Are Chaga Mushrooms Really Anti-Aging and Healing?

Do you like mushrooms? Do you eat them often? Do you know what kinds of mushrooms you eat and what nutrients they contain?

Many of us have grown up disliking and even fearing mushrooms. I remember being told that some types of wild mushrooms are dangerous and can make you deathly ill. While that is still true, what I have since discovered is that some mushrooms are truly medicinal. Some mushrooms have so much healing potential that it is truly a shame that more people don't realise this and take advantage of this marvelous healing food.

We have all enjoyed casseroles and meat dishes flavored with mushrooms and mushroom sauces. Some of us love the taste of stuffed mushrooms or our favorite Asian and Oriental dishes that include mushrooms as a staple ingredient. As food, especially when eaten along with other foods that may camouflage the taste and appearance, most of us have enjoyed mushrooms on occasion.

However, most of us do not understand the medicinal value and true healing potential of certain mushrooms, such as Reishi and Chaga. One common ingredient in medicinal mushrooms is polysaccharides, a type of complex carbohydrate that activates cancer fighting blood cells, macrophages and T-lymphocytes, stimulates interferon, and improves the immune function of the cells. While polysaccharides stimulate immune function in the body, they appear to have no toxic effects the way so many pharmaceutical drugs do.

Medicinal mushrooms help to normalize the body's own defense system, thereby assisting the body to resist and fight off diseases. Chaga mushroom, which grows in one of the coldest regions of the world, Siberia, has been known to suck all the nutrients out of the birch tree and then the tree just naturally dies. The Chaga mushroom retains all of those healing nutrients which can then be transported into the human body, often in the form of a tea or an extract. Some extracts are made with alcohol which depletes some of the powerful anti-oxidants.

If you have ever had a life blood cell analysis taken, you will discover what is lurking in your blood. I discovered some free radicals, the kind that lead to cancer, and some candida and bacteria in my blood. Immediately, I took some of my Chaga extract and my CoEnzyme Q10. One month later, when I returned for my second live blood cell analysis, the free radicals were completely gone! The bacteria was also gone. I no longer have any doubts about the power of antioxidants and the other powerful immune enhancing substances found in medicinal mushrooms, especially Chaga.

Mushrooms, particularly Chaga mushrooms, may hold the key to strengthening your immune system. With all the toxins in our food and even in the air and our environment, we owe it to ourselves to do whatever we can to keep our own immune system in optimal health, especially as we age.
